Chebucto Atlantics Mid Season Report
Good morning,
Below is some information pertaining to all things Chebucto as we reach the final month and a half of the season. Thank you to everyone who filled out the coaching feedback surveys over the Holidays. That feedback has given us valuable information to help us moving forward for both this year and next year! Here are some other updates!
Recreation Update from Shawn Birt
Recreation C: Mid- Season Update
- Regular seasons have all wrapped up for U13 / U15 / U18, and U11 are about to finish.
- After a round robin schedule, Rec C Playoff format has teams placed in one of three divisions, Gold, Silver, and Bronze, based on regular season standings
- Our three U11C Teams are all battling hard every game, even with rosters of 12-13 players... 2 teams without a full time goalie! They’re all working hard & improving, but most importantly having fun
- U11C Lightning won their division at Chebucto’s own Kyle Henneberry Tournament
- The two U13C teams have had a tough go in the regular season, but are looking forward to some success in the Bronze Division playoffs vs teams of similar caliber, and facing off against each other
- U15C have also had their challenges, but they are a team that’s built for the Playoffs. Their goalie has had to overcome some adversity, but has continuously stepped up to meet the challenge. Also thanks to his U15B “goalie brothers” for offering without any hesitation to help anytime
- U18 Grey finished in 2nd place in regular season, and also won their division at the Kyle Henneberry Tournament. They’ll be in the Gold playoff division
- U18 Chill had an up & down regular season, but after a few wins are building momentum moving through their playoff round
- U23Chebucto’s U23 Minor Junior team are also having a good season, with close to a full roster every game. They may be battling middle of the pack in the standings now, but looking to make a move!
Competitive Update from Stephen Pelham
To all Chebucto families,
Hopefully you all had a restful and relaxing holiday season and the New Year has started off well. While the regular season for hockey shuts down over the holidays, tournament play heats up with many associations around Atlantic Canada offering teams and players the opportunity to play and compete for medals and banners. Recent accomplishments for our teams include:
- Our U11AA team continued their strong play in tournaments this season by capturing their 2nd banner, winning the Tom Saunders Memorial tournament put on by the Halifax Hawks. Congratulations goes out to coach Daryl MacPherson, the players, and the other coaches for their amazing accomplishment.
- Our U15A White team traveled to Yarmouth to take part in the 2022 edition of the Mariner’s Classic and were able to take down the host Yarmouth team in the finals to capture a banner and win the tournament. Congratulations to coach Jarrett Mitchell, his assistants, and all of the players for their strong play throughout the tournament.
- Our U15AA traveled to Montreal two weekends ago and won the CAM AM Tournament, going undefeated! They defeated teams from across Canada and the United States! Congratulations!!
- Our U15A Green Team battled hard this past weekend in Oromocto, making it to the finals where they lost a close, hard fought game. They earned a Silver Medal for their efforts, Congratulations!!
Hopefully, we are able to see more Chebucto teams achieving success in tournaments as the season progresses. GO CHEBUCTO GO!!!
In additional this these successes, we recognize there are some competitive teams that are not experiencing the same level of success as others, particulary in the U11 division. As an association we are aware of this and are perparing some information to share with families. That information will be coming out in the near future to U11 parents.
Former Chebucto Players Playing for The Gulls win the ICE JAM!
I would like to give a HUGE congratulations to forms Chebucto Atlantic Players Issac Amirault, Aaron Chipp, Jacob Hartlin, Jordan Gregoire, Logan Foote, Sam Flemming, Daniel Walters and the rest of the Gulls team for going undefeated and winning the ICE JAM U15 Major Tournament. That is an amazing accomplishment and we are all very proud of you. Special shout out goes out to our very own Aaron Chipp, who was tournament MVP!
