Deep Condolences for the Passing of Todd Cranston
Our condolences go out to the Cranston family and all who had the pleasure of knowing Todd Cranston.
Todd Cranston was deeply involved with Chebucto Minor Hockey for many years and made significant contributions to the organization through leadership, coaching, player development, and volunteerism. Todd served in numerous executive roles within Chebucto Minor Hockey, including serving as President of the association from approximately 2010 to 2014 as well as VP of Development and other roles. During his time in leadership, he helped guide and support the continued growth of the organization and its hockey programs, contributing to a strong community-focused culture within CMHA. Beyond executive leadership, Todd became widely known for his commitment to player development. He was heavily involved in coaching and skills instruction and played a key role in running highly successful Skaters Club and other development initiatives that benefited many young athletes within the association. His passion for skill development and teaching helped influence players across multiple age levels over many years. Todd coached extensively within Chebucto Minor Hockey as well as Hockey Nova Scotia development programs. He was involved with numerous teams and age groups at many different levels throughout his time with the association, contributing both as a coach and through skills development initiatives.
In addition to his work within minor hockey, Todd later coached alongside his son Alec with the Citadel High School hockey program, continuing his longstanding commitment to mentorship and player development at the high school level where they won back-to-back provincial championships as father and son.
Throughout his involvement with Chebucto Minor Hockey, Todd became known not only for the many formal roles he held, but also for the countless hours he dedicated behind the scenes helping players, coaches, and families. His impact on the association extended well beyond the ice through leadership, mentorship, and a genuine passion for the growth of community hockey in Halifax.
